Alan Young was a British-born, Canadian-American actor, voice actor, comedian, radio host, television host and personality. He has voiced a few characters for Disney and is likely best known for voicing Scrooge McDuck.
Personal Life[]
Young was born Angus Young in North Shields, Northumberland, England, to John Cathcart Young, a shipyard worker, and Florence Pinckney, whose ancestors included a signer of the United States Declaration of Independence. The family moved to Edinburgh, Scotland when Young was a toddler, and to West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada when he was six years old. Young came to love radio when bedridden as a child because of severe asthma.
Young was married three times: He and Mary Anne Grimes were married from 1941 to 1947 and had two children. He was married to Virginia McCurdy from 1948 until there divorce in 1995 and both had two children as well. He then married his third wife Mary Chipman in 1996, the married lasted for only a year until they divorced in 1997. Young lived in Woodland Hills, California.
